MY NIGHTTIME SKINCARE ROUTINE

So many skincare brands but which ones actually work for your skin type? A lot of people think that high-end products are the only ones that actually work but I’ve found some pretty amazing, affordable products at my local drugstore. The higher the price tag, doesn’t mean it is always better. Today, I break down my 6-step nighttime skincare routine and show you how I keep my skin as clear as possible. My IGTV is up as well, if you want to see that too!

STEP ONE: DOUBLE CLEANSE

I always double cleanse after a long day of wearing make-up. I use a cleansing balm like this or this one, to break down my make-up especially my mascara and lipstick. Next, I go in with a gel cleanser to wash the rest of the residue away. I love gentle cleaners like Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser and the Botanics Hydration Burst Dual Action Cleanser.

STEP TWO: MICELLAR WATER

Micellar Water is great product to remove any make-up or dirt around the hairline or neck. I also use it for my eye make-up if there is any left over. Recently, I transitioned in using reusable cotton pads since I use so many throughout the week. A great way to use reduce your carbon footprint.

STEP THREE: TONER

This toner helps exfoliate and brighten my complexion. I really like how the bottle has a well-pump so you can easily apply a cotton pad to it. This was actually introduced to me by HelloAva; they are a skin consulting company where they will help determine what skincare products will best fit you based on your skin type and your budget.

STEP FOUR: SERUMS

Serums might be my favorite skincare product since it helps keep your skin hydrated and it is so easy to do in the morning and evening. The Maelove Glow Maker Antioxidant Serum

STEP FIVE: SPOT TREATMENTS

Sometimes I will have a pimple pop-up out of no where (happens arounds those times of the month), I will dab some tea tree oil on the bump to help sooth it. Next, I will add a pimple patch like this one or this one to help absorb the pimple. This will not get rid of the pimple completely, but it will reduce the inflammation and prevent you from picking at it (we do not want scars). Another great option is to add a drying lotion to the pimple and leave it on overnight.

STEP SIX: MOISTURIZER

The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask ( you might remember this from my previous skincare post) since it is so multi-functional. You can use it a moisturizer, face mask, or an under eye cream. In the evening, I opt for a sleeping mask since it thicker in consistency so it will keep my skin hydrated throughout the night.

ADDITONAL PRODUCTS:

Twice a week, I exfoliate my skin using a physical exfoliator compared to a chemical one. Both exfoliators are similar in what they do but not necessary to use both of them at the same time. The Summer Fridays Overtime Mask smells like pumpkin pie and it helps my skin look less dull. You leave it on for 10 minutes, massage with your fingers and then wash it off with warm water. Since my hormonal acne experience, I’ve been applying the Derma-E Scar Gel to my face to help improve the scar texture, color, and overall appearance. So far I’ve been very pleased with the results and my skin has improved so much. Make sure to use this every night to use see any results.
