Happy Earth Day everyone! I wanted to share with all of you some of my favorite eco-friendly brands; ranging from skincare to fashion and everything in between. Hopefully these products will encourage you to reconsider what’s inside your medicine cabinets and closet.
This year I decided to ditch my cotton pads for these reusable cotton pads since I use about two a day for my make-up and skincare routine. Although this is a small act, I go through about 60 pads a month which is a lot when you add it all up. These reusable cotton pads are great since they come with a small laundry bag for easy washing and they are a little bit bigger than the regular ones you see at the drug stores.
2. Derma E Skincare
I first discovered Derma E Skincare when I bought their Scar Gel which has been a life saver for my skin. Derma E is 100% vegan, cruelty-free formulas do not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oil, artificial colors, gluten, soy or GMOs. This eco-ethical skincare brand is so amazing because not only do they care about our planet and the ingredients that they use but also the people behind it. Make sure to look at their website to see the break down of their ingredients to learn more.
This clothing brand is the leading example of sustainable fashion for the millennials. Fashion is the third most polluting industry in the world, and one of the largest consumers of water. Some of my favorite things to buy at Reformation are their Refjeans and bodysuits. These particular items are not necessary trendy, but they can withstand the test of times. They also sell dresses, tops, and swimwear. This company truly cares about the impact they are making and the people that work for them. They even host tours of their factory so you can see it IRL and meet the people who make your clothes. Make sure to check out their website for more info.
4. Vitamin A Swim
I discovered this brand through Instagram while I was trying to find more sustainable fashion brands. Vitamin A Swim developed EcoLux™, the first premium swim fabric made from recycled nylon fibers. Most of their products are made in California but they also partner globally with fair trade artisans to produce their materials ethically. This provides women with fair-wage jobs in safe working conditions. This brand has a variety of bathing suits, cover-ups, and accessories. I love how they offer the same style one-piece bathing suits but with skimpy and full back coverage options (here and here).
5. Love Beauty and Planet
This cruelty-free and vegan beauty brand is available at Walgreens and Target. Love Beauty and Planet uses 100% recycled materials to make their bottles and caps. Make sure to recycle your bottles when you are done using them. Their products are infused with organic and sustainable ingredients sourced from places all over the world. My favorite collections are the Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower and Shea Butter & Sandalwood. Make sure to check out your local Target for their Love Home and Planet collection which includes laundry detergent, multipurpose cleaner spray, liquid hand soap, and dryer sheets.
